Near infrared spectroscopy as a tool for agricultural expertise: identification of tomato seedlings

Tomatoes are one of the most prominent vegetables globally, with significant cultural and economic relevance in various nations, including Brazil. The term ‘safe food’ is becoming more popular as consumer preferences supply chain dynamics become evolved these processes. In light issues, use safety quality management methods for fruits have increased dramatically, traceability being solutions worth highlighting. When it comes to traceability, evaluation tomato seedlings, plants, identify groups or hybrids becomes particularly crucial throughout marketing process, since seedlings fruit has difficulties recognizing whether that product truly belongs group indicated by merchant. Thus, potential near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) combined PC-LDA PLS-DA algorithms was tested discrimination two commercial groups, Salada Saladete, well eleven cultivars belonging which were this purpose. results show that, using model, portable NIR equipment capable differentiating nurseries Saladete an accuracy 99.7% sensitivity 100%. technique showed be efficient individual models group, over 90% above 93% all models.
